"I" Checklist

We are trying to have more independent activities ("i" stands for independent) in the afternoons. Today we set our expectations for what this will look like. All of the activities are things they have been doing with me, but now we are transitioning into more personal responsibility. They still have instruction time with me for math and reading in the afternoons (writing/grammar is in the mornings), but they have many choices to work on while I'm working with a sibling.

Most of the ideas for these activities comes from The Daily 5. This is directed towards a public school setting, but the foundation is focused on a balanced literacy experience, which is my goal as well - just tweaked for a different setting.

I'll blog more on the daily 5 at another time.

Here is also a picture of my new book display!
